Chairman of the Board of Directors of Corticeira Amorim, holds a degree in International Trade by the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom). He holds several postgraduation courses, particularly in Business Management at INSEAD, in the Universities of Columbia and Stanford, as well as in Enology at the University of Bordeaux.
He began his professional career at Amorim-Investimentos e Participações, was the Executive Director of Amorim Hotéis, where he was in charge of the launching of Novotel and Íbis hotels in Portugal, on a joint-venture with Accor, the greatest hotel chain in the world. He was appointed as General Manager of Unidade de Negócios Rolha, later becoming the Chairman and CEO of Corticeira Amorim, the industrial branch of the Amorim Group. He was also the Chairman of the European Cork Confederation and of the Portuguese Cork Association. Since 2006, he has been a Commander of the Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Merit Order.
